Japan Funds $4M for Food Security Project in Vietnam

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Sakaba Mitsuo and Minister of Finance Vu Van Ninh on October 29 exchanged diplomatic notes in which Japan will fund JPY360 million, or $4 million for a project to ensure food security for poor Vietnamese farmers.
The project will be conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency as part of the Japanese government’s non-refundable aid program, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported. Under the project, the Japanese government will provide an aid package worth 360 million yen to buy Vietnamese fertilizers. The Vietnamese government will use the money from selling these fertilizers to implement socio-economic development projects in rural and mountainous regions.
