Japan Grants $478,690 to Health, Education, Agriculture Projects in Vietnam

Japan has provided a $78,690 non-refundable aid to five projects in health, education and agriculture sectors in Vietnam, the Dau tu newspaper reported.
Of which, $187,838 will be granted to provide medical equipment for health facilities in two southern provinces of Ben Tre and Hau Giang. $194,900 will be used to build two primary schools in the central province of Ninh Thuan and southern province of Binh Thuan.  The rest will be granted to build a dyke system in Can Giuoc district of the southern province of Long An. In the fiscal year of 2009, Japan pledged to provide Vietnam JPY146.613 billion ($1.5 billion), the record high so far.  Japanese ODA for Vietnam this year may be lower than the record figure of 2009 as its economic situation is better and the Southeast Asian nation will not need urgent aids, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam, Tsuno Motonori.
