Japan NEDO Funds $17M for Industrial Waste Treatment System in Hanoi

The Japanese New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) has funded $17 million for a project of building industrial waste treatment system in Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi. The system will cover one hectare at the Nam Son waste treatment complex in the outlying district of Soc Son, NEDO Chairman Seiji Mutara was quoted by the state-run Vietnam News Agency as saying Oct 19. The $21-million project will include an incinerator with a daily capacity of 75 tons, an exhaust fume treatment system and a heat recovery system. A feasibility study for the project is slated for completion by end-Nov, Mutara added. The pilot project, which may be expanded to other localities not only in Vietnam but also in the Southeast Asian region, aims to treat waste in an environmentally-friendly way for the sustainable development. The project is slated for implementation between 2011 and 2012.  NEDO under Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry specializes in advanced technologies relating to the environment, energy and industry.
