JICA Funds $2.4M for Vietnam University

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide $2.4 million for a project to improve training quality of the Tay Bac University in Vietnam’s northwestern province of Son La. The three-year project aims to help the university improve its teaching programs and boost research programs, the Vietnam News Agency said.  The Tay Bac University was established in 2001 to train human resources for the country’s northwest region. The northwest region, which comprises of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La and Hoa Binh provinces, is recognized as the poorest region in Vietnam with the poverty rate of 50%.
