Malaria Kills 6 Vietnamese So Far This Year

Vietnam has reported more than 20,200 people suffering from malaria so far this year, including 6 deaths, a recent report by the National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology showed.
The country’s number of malaria patients reduced 3.4% on year, but the rate has increased by 27.7% in central region and 12.45% in the central highlands provinces during the period, the Dat Viet newspaper reported Aug 27. The institute warned that the epidemic is likely to spread nationwide in the upcoming months of rainy and stormy season.  Meanwhile, the number of dengue fever patients is on the rise in the southern region, including 900 affected people with one fatality Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh with over 3,100 patients since early this year.
