PM Approves $180M WB Loan for Vietnam-Germany University Project

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the World Bank loan of $180 million for construction of Vietnam-Germany University (VGU) in the southern province of Binh Duong, the Vietnamese government said on its website June 1. The VGU, the first international public university to be founded in the country, will be built on an area of 50 hectares. The university will receive excellent Vietnamese students who want to study advanced sciences. Detail about the project construction schedule has not been made available at this time. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to finalize the plan and be responsible for effective use of the loan.
