President Triet: Vietnam to Boost Education Ties with Russia

Vietnam attaches importance to education cooperation with Russia as part of efforts to expand the bilateral comprehensive ties in the future, President Nguyen Minh Triet told a Russian university rector in Hanoi Thursday.
“This is a good sign for future cooperation in education and training between the two countries,” President Triet said while receiving Prof. Fedorov Mikhail Petrovich, rector of the Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnic University who is in Vietnam to seek ways to open a branch of his university. The Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnic University has so far trained many generations of Vietnamese students, Prof. Petrovich said, hoping to soon open his university’s branch in Vietnam.  Currently, around 5,000 Vietnamese students are studying in Russian universities.
