Save the Children in Vietnam (SC) works to promote every child’s rights to survival, protection, participation and development as set forth in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.  The current programme focuses on the following core sectors: Health and Nutrition; HIV/AIDS prevention; Care and support; Education; Child protection; Child-focused emergency preparedness and response; Child rights agenda, including Civil society development, Economic opportunities, Child poverty Research, and Advocacy for child-friendly development policy and practice.

SC is responding to the impact of the two serious typhoons of 2009 in Quang Tri and Phu Yen provinces. SC is targeting vulnerable children and families with an integrated, livelihoods, health, WATSAN, Education and Disaster Risk Reduction programme.

Vacancy: Programme Support Assistant
Work location: Phu Yen

They are looking for a Vietnamese national for the position of Programme Support Assistant for our project team in Phu Yen province.

Job Purpose
The Programme Support Assistant’s main role is to support the successful implementation of recovery projects in Phu Yen and the maintenance of good working relationships with partners. A particular focus is to provide general administrative and programme support to project officers and managers to deliver on the project’s objectives, particularly by good management of project procedures, financial and administrative operations, in accordance with Save the Children regulations and government law.

Key Competencies 
- University degree in a relevant subject such as economics, business management, finance, social development.
- Good working knowledge in English in both speaking and writing skills.
- Preferably, 1 year experience with an NGO or other international organisation.
- Skills related to working with local partners, and working in multilateral relationships.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a team environment. Work independently, focused on maintaining high quality, accurate work.
- Willing to work in isolated rural areas with basic living conditions, and work in difficult field conditions, should an emergency occur.
- Commitment to Save the Children’s Child Protection Policy.
- Have a very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness.
