Project Manager

PATH has been working in Vietnam since the early 1980s, with a permanent office established in Hanoi in 1997.

PATH seeks a Project Manager to oversee day-to-day activities, manage and monitor all aspects of the 3 year project Enhancing influenza vaccine development in Vietnam. The overall goal of the project is to build regionally-based, independent and sustainable influenza vaccine production capacity in Vietnam.
The Project Manager will work closely with senior international and national PATH staff, country collaborators (Ministry of Health, vaccine manufacturers and other related agencies) and will oversee the project team in Vietnam.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support project design in collaboration with U.S.-based staff
- Lead the detailed implementation planning for in-country activities, including assessment of vaccine manufacturers and facilitation of technical assistance to vaccine manufacturers
- With support from Senior Team Leader, coordinate with Ministry of Health and other related ministries, vaccine manufactures and other national/regional and provincial partners to plan and implement project activities
- Coordinate, supervise, and monitor all project activities including day-to-day project implementation
- Negotiate and monitor agreements with local counterparts
- Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship to local project staff
- Participate in preparing project reports and other project documentation
- Participate in the financial management of project activities
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities in collaboration with US teams
- Facilitate all necessary in-country project approvals
- Develop and manage annual work plans and project budgets in collaboration with U.S teams
- Identify and manage local consultants
- Build and maintain relationships with local partners
- Liaise closely with technical staff from US teams

Knowledge, skills and abilities required
- Advanced degree in biological sciences or other relevant discipline
- Work experience in vaccine development
- Demonstrated report writing and presentation skills
- Experience working effectively with government counterparts
- Demonstrated leadership qualities at mid-management level
- Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
- A minimum of 5 years progressive work responsibility with extensive project management experience
- Excellent written and spoken Vietnamese and English
- Willingness and ability to travel within Vietnam up to 30 percent per year.
- Experience working with private sector a plus
- Experience managing US Government funded projects a plus

Starting monthly gross salary: US$ 1,346 – US$ 1,681(depending on experience) plus competitive benefits (paid in VND).
