Save the Children in Vietnam (SC) works to promote every child’s rights to survival, protection, participation and development as set forth in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.  The current programme focuses on the following core sectors: Health and Nutrition; HIV/AIDS prevention; Care and support; Education; Child protection; Child-focused emergency preparedness and response; Child rights agenda, including Civil society development, Economic opportunities, Child poverty Research, and Advocacy for child-friendly development policy and practice.

Vacancy:  Sector Head – Education Programme
Based in Hanoi

They are now looking for a motivated qualified Vietnamese national to fill in the position of Sector Head for Education programme in Vietnam.

Job Purpose:
The post holder is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the education programme of the Save the Children in Vietnam; representation of the education programme internally and externally;  financial budgeting and monitoring; working closely with partners for efficient and effective programme implementation.

The Sector Head- Education Programme is a senior management position which offers excellent opportunities for learning and advancement regionally and globally. The successful candidate will represent Save the Children in Vietnam with Vietnamese Government partners at the central and provincial levels, particularly the Ministry of Education and Training, and with other international organizations and donors. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package.

Person specifications:

Essential:
- MA/BA, education background or experiences in education programme
- 7-10 years experience in international development work
- Demonstrated experience in programme design, management, monitoring and evaluation
- Demonstrated skills in financial and grants management
- Working knowledge of education policies and practice
- Proven skills in organisational representation and advocacy
- Demonstrated skills in personnel management and team development and training
- Computer literate and able to self-service for routine office purposes
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills in English and Vietnamese
- A proven commitment to children’s rights and equality of opportunity

Desirable: Working knowledge of national policies /strategy and practice in education and socio-economic development.
