Senior Accountant

They are currently seeking a qualified and motivated person, Vietnamese nationality, to work in our coordination office Ho Chi Minh city in the position of SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Position type: Full time, starting from April 2010 to May 2011 with a possibility to transfer to Hanoi for a long term contract when HI-VN office moves to Hanoi in 2011.
Location: Ho Chi Minh city.
Interfacing: The senior accountant reports to the Finance Coordinator, in collaboration with the accountant and interacts with all staff members in the country program as described in the Job description.

Job Summary:
- Reporting to the Finance Coordinator, the senior accountant is responsible for the day-to-day and monthly accounting, using the global accounting software of Handicap International; managing of the cash box; handling salaries, taxation, bank transactions. The senior accountant will ensure that the accounting is done according to HI-VN procedures and regulations. 

Main tasks & responsibilities:
Coordination and archiving:
- Participate in weekly, monthly and yearly planning of the Finance Department;
- Participate in the quarterly Coordination meetings to follow up the day-to-day expenditure in the Coordination office and the project sites;
- Support the Finance Coordinator in collecting information for donor report writing;
- Organize accounting and supporting documents in a well defined structure;
- Together with the Finance Coordinator, develop a monitoring/follow up system for the financial management of the HCMC office and the project sites.

Accounting
- Sharing the day-to-day accounting tasks with the accountant;
- Cross checking the encoded expenses done by the accountant;
- Sharing the encoding of monthly accounting reports (from projects and office) using the HI global accounting software;
- Cross checking the analytical codes to each expense;
- Sharing the tasks of monthly accounting closure.

Treasury
- Supervise the management of office cashbox;
- Perform and/or supervise all types of bank transactions;
- Supervise advanced payments and reimbursements given to/received by the staff03/16/2010
- Supervise salary, insurance, allowances payments;
- Supervise payments of housing contracts;
- Handling money requests by team members in charge of payments;

Selection Criteria and Qualifications
- University graduate in Accounting/Financing;
- A minimum of two years’ experience in senior Accounting positions, preferably in the NGO circle.
- Fluency in English (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent) and Vietnamese;
- Computer literate and effective abilities in Word, Excel and Accounting softwares;
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision, exercise judgment, meet deadlines and work under pressure;
- Ability to write Accounting/Financial reports in English;
- Honest, meticulous, transparent, responsible;
- Having an ethical and critical way of thinking;
- Good inter-personal skills.
