Swine Flu Hits Daily Record at 299

Since the first case of swine flu detected in May, 6,478 H1N1-positive cases have been recorded nationwide.
While 4,624 have fully recovered, seven have died, with the latest death reported on Thursday in the central city of Da Nang, according to the ministry. The others are being treated in hospitals in different parts of country.
In the meantime, the global pandemic’s death toll has reached 3,486, up 281 from a week ago, while 296,471 people in total have been detected with infection, the AFP quoted the World Health Organization (WHO) as saying on Friday.
That number, however, is seen as far below actual figures as some countries lack systematic data gathering, according to the WHO.
The UN agency said the Americas region still has the highest death toll, at 2,625. The Asia-Pacific region has reported 620 fatalities, while Europe has recorded at least 140 deaths. In the Middle East, 61 people have succumbed to the virus, while Africa has so far declared 40 deaths.
