Switzerland Grants $82,000 to Vietnam Storm Victims

The Swiss Red Cross has provided VND1.6 billion ($82,000) as relief aid to victims hurt by Typhoon Ketsana in Vietnam’s central province of Phu Yen, the Voice of Vietnam Radio said Oct 28. Of the sum, VND1 billion will be given to EaBia commune and the remainder to EaTrol commune, both in Song Hinh district. The aid will be used for buying fertilizers, seeds and tools serving for agriculture production.
The Swiss Red Cross has granted VND3.2 billion to 586 households in Phu Yen so far. Typhoon Ketsana killed 202 people and caused losses of up to VND16 trillion as hitting central Vietnam last year. (vovnews.vn Oct 27)
