Technical Project Officer in Bac Kan
The French Red Cross seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering and to improve the situation of vulnerable people. The French Red Cross carries out activities in France and worldwide, in close coordination with the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The activities cover three main areas: social care, health, disaster preparedness and relief.
Since 1990, the French Red Cross has been working together with the Vietnam Red Cross to implement humanitarian activities. In the framework of our 3-year project Water and sanitation in Bac Kan Province, the French Red Cross is seeking a qualified Technical Project Officer. This post will be based in Bac Kan city with regular trips on the field.
This is an excellent position for a skilled and independent candidate interested in working in a challenging environment with a dynamic and dedicated team.
Main responsibilities:
Water infrastructures construction
- Support design of water infrastructures: mainly gravity fed water systems and wells
- Participate to the open tender procedure for construction of water systems
- Supervise construction and ensure the respect of fine rules of art and of the designs
- Inspect construction works
- Check and acquit finals documents
- Map the water supply system
Sanitation infrastructures
- Supervise family latrines’ construction
- Participate to design of school latrines’ design
- Supervise school latrines’ construction
Capacity building
- Promote the participation of community during the entire cycle of the project, especially during construction works
- Train the community to operation and maintenance of the water supply systems by developing guidelines and manuals
Reporting
- Write monthly reports
Requirements:
- University degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a water supply specialization
- 3 years of work’s experience
- Knowledge in sanitation
- Good command in MSOffice, AutoCAD
- Good command in English or French
Assets:
- Experience in working with international NGO
- Experience in working in rural areas and with ethnic minorities
- Command in MapInfo or Arcview
- Command in northern ethnics minorities languages (tay, dao, hmongh)
