Training course on “Raising awareness of Climate Change and responding methods”

Under the Climate change Capacity Building project, a 3 day training course on “Raising awareness on Climate Change and response methods” was held up in Hue city on 22-24 September 2010. Participating in the training course were officers from different civil society organizations of provinces in Central Vietnam

such as: Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue. The trainers were officers from different NGOs who participated in TOT courses held by the project.

This training session equipped participants with knowledge on climate change, its manifestations, impacts and strategies on climate change adaptation and mitigation in certain fields in Vietnam. They were also provided with practical experiences from the project “Climate change adaptation at community level and related policies in Hue province” by Institute of Environment and Natural Resources and Bio-technology (Hue University) and good practices in mitigation of natural disasters of Red Cross of Hue province.

At the end of the session, many of the trainees agreed that this kind of knowledge and information is crucial to their work and said they hoped that they will be able to effectively support the community to fight against climate change through incorporating relevant activities into on-going projects and tailoring and implementing new projects in the field of climate change. Participants expressed interest in having the chance to be involved in other training courses held by the project.
