USAID Funds More $16M for Vietnam’s HIV/AIDS Fight

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has decided to finance an additional $16 million for a program to fight HIV/AIDS in Vietnam, the Lao Dong newspaper reported Nov 13. The program, conducted by the Pact organization, has so far provided counseling services and voluntary tests for 8,000 people. Approx 50,000 people with HIV/AIDS, their relatives and HIV-affected children have got access to healthcare service through the program. By June this year, Vietnam had 149,653 people with HIV/AIDS.  The Southeast Asian nation is estimated to have 300,000 HIV/AIDS patient next year.
