Vietnam to Allocate 3,000 Tons Rice for Hungry Families in Central Province

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the Ministry of Finance to allocate nearly 3,000 tons of rice from the national reserve for famine relief to the central province of Quang Ngai. The PM assigned the provincial authorities to manage and distribute the rice to locals timely and exactly, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said Jul 2. The government donated a total of 7,882 tons of rice for the needy people in five provinces of Bac Kan, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh and Ha Giang between Jan and May. The Prime Minister also required the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to grant 20,000 liters of Benkocid pesticide to prevent blue-ear disease in the central province of Nghe An.
