Vietnam, Cambodia Discuss Environmental Issues

Vietnamese and Cambodian officials discussed environmental laws and policies aimed at protecting the ecosystem in Phnom Penh on July 6, the Voice of Vietnam Radio said July 7
The talks were held between Dang Vu Minh, Director of the Vietnam National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, and Ai Khan, Acting Chairman of the Cambodian Parliament’s Commission on Planning, Investment, Agriculture, Rural Development, Environment and Water Resources.
The Cambodian official said he was very keen on the Vietnamese committee’s experiences in drawing up policies and carrying out projects to protect water resources and forests as well as applying science and technology.
Ai Khan pointed out that several Vietnamese companies involved in planting rubber trees in Cambodia are making a substantial contribution to the country’s efforts to reduce poverty, restore its ecosystem and promote sustainable development.
Minh shared the experiences his committee has gained, especially in examining bills and decrees and enforcing laws and resolutions in the fields of science, technology and the environment.
