Vietnam Cautioned about Rising Numbers of Hypertension Patients

Vietnam has been warned of increasing numbers of hypertension patients aged more than 25, showed a survey by the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh and Nghe An. The information was released at a conference on reviewing a hypertension prevention project in 2009 in Hanoi April 6, aiming to raise the public awareness of the disease and skills of health workers across the country. Up to 22.7% of people living in cities suffered from high blood pressure and 12.3% of them in rural areas infected with the disease, the survey said. This year, the project is expected to be carried out in 16 provinces and cities nationwide.
