Vietnam Central Province Opens New Secondary School

Authorities in Vietnam’s central province of Ninh Thuan has recently opened a new secondary school costing VND3 billion ($157,894) funded by Mekong Housing Bank (MHB). The Ngo Quyen Secondary School, which is located on a 518.33-sq.m area in Bac Ai district, has 12 classrooms meeting the national standards, the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reported on June 3. On the occasion, MHB pledged to fund VND1.67 billion for 100 poor ethnic minority students at local colleges and universities and 50 people to pursue vocational training. Vietnam welcomes 22 million pupils and students in the 2009-2010 school year. Of the sum, 3.47 million attend nursery schools and kindergarteners; around 6.84 million join primary schools; 9.1 million take part in high schools and more than 1.8 million attend universities.
