Vietnam to Fund 450 More Doctorate Scholarships Abroad This Year

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training said that it would enroll 450 more state employees for doctoral training programs abroad this year from the state budget, state media reported Oct 05. Enrollees will include lecturers and staffs who finished post-graduation at good level and working in state agencies for at least one year. The state-fund scholarship receivers have to pledge to come back Vietnam for teaching at domestic universities and colleges after the overseas education. The country encourages learners of science and technology, social sciences, economic and management, arts, sports, medicine and pharmacy, forestry and fisheries. Vietnam has a large number of youths studying and working abroad. Among learners abroad, the state-funded students are those suffered a lot from difficulties because of limited supports. Recent surveys showed that the majority of overseas students prefer working abroad after graduation. (Nguoi Lao Dong- Laborer Oct 5, An ninh Thu do - Capital’s Security Oct 5 p2)
