Vietnam, Germany Hold Int’l Seminar on Waste Recycling Management

The Vietnam National University and the German Technical University of Dresden held an international seminar on waste recycling management in Hanoi from May 4 to 6, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said. The three-day workshop attracted the participation of 100 scientists from 17 organizations, research institutes and universities from Europe, Asia and South America. The participants exchanged the research results on chemical waste recycling activities and sought solutions.  The event is expected to map out a joint project to build a multi-national information system to warn the risks of chemicals in recycling waste activities.  Nguyen Thanh Yen, chief of the toxic waste management office under the Vietnam Environment Administration said that the Vietnamese laws on chemical waste management have many loopholes.
