Vietnam, Germany Increase Healthcare Cooperation

German health experts are willing to cooperate and assist with projects in Vietnam to promote the synergy between medical and economic development, affirmed Health Minister Philipp Roesler. Minister Roesler made the confirmation at a reception given to Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Do Hoa Binh in Berlin on April 19.  Roesler expressed his wish to promote the Vietnam-Germany relationship, especially in health care.  He said he would visit Vietnam this year and hoped that there would be more Vietnamese doctors coming to Germany for their internships to increase their professional knowledge. The minister said he would attend the Vietnam Culture Festival held by the Vietnamese embassy at the Alexander Square in Berlin this August within the framework of the Vietnam Year in Germany 2010.  Ambassador Binh informed the host of the embassy’s program this year to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties. He expressed his hope that Minister Roesler would support the two countries’ bilateral cooperation, particularly in health care.  Germany is Vietnam’s important partner in the European Union (EU), Binh said, adding that both countries boast large potential that should be tapped for promoting bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, education, science-technology, culture and tourism. He also said that the 100,000-strong Vietnamese community in Germany has not only contributed to their second homeland’s socio-economic development but also helped promote friendship between the two nations.
