Vietnam Hospital Operates $368,200 Medical Wastewater Treatment System

The Ho Chi Minh City Tumor and Cancer Hospital May 18 operated a medical wastewater treatment system totaling nearly VND7 billion ($368,200), state media reported. The system with a daily capacity of 700 cubic meters of wastewater is aimed to help reduce environmental pollution in the locality. Vietnam now has nearly 200 incinerators which receive and treat medical wastes from 435 hospitals out of 854 hospitals nationwide, statistics from the Ministry of Health showed. The Southeast Asian country needs between $120 million and $150 million to invest in medical waste treatment systems.
