Vietnam to Host 25th ASEAN Council of Teachers Convention Dec 11

Seven hundreds of international senior educators will take part in the 25th ASEAN Council of Teachers (ACT) Convention in Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi between Dec 11 and Dec 12. The convention will focus on measures to sustainably develop education in the global economic slowdown, the Lao Dong newspaper reported Dec. 8. Educators will also exchange experience with five Vietnamese schools namely Hanoi Teachers Training University, University of Foreign Trade, University of Trade and Nguyen Binh Khiem non-state run school. Vietnam successfully hosted the ACT Convention for the first time in 2000.  Vietnam now has 376 universities and colleges. It targets to have one university placed among the world’s top 200 universities by 2020.  Vietnam plans to allocate VND648 billion ($39.5 million) for the education and training sector this year, up 12.7% from 2008.
