Vietnam Lacks Clinics for Workers

Vietnam is facing a severe shortage of medical stations to offer medical check-ups and treatment to workers suffering from occupational diseases, the state-run Vietnam News Agency reported. The clinics for workers have been set up in 24 out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, the Ministry of Health’s Preventive Health and Environment Department said. They, however, fail to meet the national standards. Up to 27,000 workers in Vietnam contracted occupation diseases last year, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said without giving comparative figures. Vietnam targets to cut the number of serious workplace accidents by 5% and reduce the figure of people with occupational diseases by 10% annually from this year.
