Vietnam Ministry OKs $54M to Build 8 New Cancer Treatment Facilities

Vietnamese Minister of Health Nguyen Quoc Trieu has approved a plan to spend VND1 trillion ($54 million) to build eight more cancer treatment centers, the Saigon Times Daily newspaper reported. Under the plan, the five centers will be located at Hanoi’s E Hospital, Thai Nguyen General Hospital, Hue General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City’s Cho Ray Hospital and Can Tho General Hospital. Vietnam is estimated to identify 150,000 to 200,000 new cancer patients a year and report 100,000 deaths by the disease, statistics from the ministry showed.
