Vietnam, Norway to Boost Further Ties in Energy, Climate Change

Senior officials of Vietnam and Norway agreed the two sides will boost further the cooperation and mutual support in fields of energy and mitigation of climate change, the Vietnamese government said on its website on Dec. 8. Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and Norwegian Secretary for Trade and Industry Halvard Ingebrigtsen who was leading a secretariat mission of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) on visit to Vietnam reached the agreement Dec 8. The Norwegian official informed Deputy PM Hai of his working results with Vietnamese agencies, including the possible signing of a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EFTA.  The host highly spoke of Norway’s support for Vietnam, particularly a $10 million ODA just pledged at a Consultative Group (CG) meeting held in Hanoi Dec 3-4.
EFTA includes Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
