Vietnam Opens First Breast Care Center

Hoan My Medical Corp. operated a breast care center worth $2 million in Ho Chi Minh City last week, the first of its kind in Vietnam, the corporation said on its website. The center, which is equipped with modern equipment and technologies, will help detect early breast cancer and give treatment to patients. Hoan My Chairman Nguyen Huu Tung said at the center’s opening ceremony that breast cancer is the most dangerous disease for Vietnamese women. The disease not only affects their health but also is a burden on their families’ finances.  Currently, China has one breast care center, while Singapore and Thailand have not yet had such facilities, said the city’s health department. Vietnam is estimated to have 14,000 new breast cancer patients a year.
