Vietnam Province Approves U.S. - Funded Project to Help UXO Victims

Vietnam’s central province of Thua Thien-Hue has approved a VND1 billion ($52,377) project funded by the U.S.’s Clear Path International (CPI) to support unexploded ordnances (UXO)-hit victims.  Of the sum, $50,000 was sourced from the U.S. non-government organization, the Thanh Nien newspaper reported Jul 22. The project, which is slated for completion late this year, will provide medical treatment for UXO victims and scholarships for their children. In 2000, CPI began its mine action work in Vietnam and it has to date assisted over 650 landmine accident survivors in 10 provinces.
