Vietnam Province Gives Free Heart Surgeries to 100 Disadvantaged Children

Vietnam’s central province of Ninh Thuan’s Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients has to date raised more than VND4.5 billion ($243,500) from donors to give free heart surgeries to 100 disadvantaged children since 2008. Of the figure, 92 children have had operation at home and eight in South Korea, the chairman’s association Hoang Thi Ut Lan was quoted by Nhan Dan newspaper as saying. This year, the association expects to give free heart surgeries to 30 needy children and provide eye operation for 200 poor patients in the locality.
