Vietnam Province to Invest $3.16M into Clean Water Supply Proj in 2010

Vietnam’s southern province of Soc Trang will invest more than VND60.28 billion ($3.16M) to carry out a clean water supply project for poor people this year. Of the sum, VND54.254 billion will come from the state budget and the rest from the provincial budget. Up to 20,000 Khmer ethnic minority people will get benefit from the project, the Nong Nghiep Viet Nam newspaper reported March 1. As of early 2008, local authorities helped 75% of households get access to clean water and 25% of those acquire hygienic toilets.
