Vietnam Province Oks $30.67M Water Supply, Environment Project

Authorities of Vietnam’s central province of Quang Ngai Sept 13 approved a VND598 billion ($30.67 million) project on clean water supply and environmental sanitation in rural areas from now up to 2015. This is part of the national target program on rural clean water supply and environmental sanitation for the period of 2011-2015 with total investment of more than VND54 trillion, the Dai Doan Ket newspaper reported Sept 14. The project is expected to help 85% of the province’s rural population gain access to clean water and 70% of households in rural areas build sanitary breeding facilities. The project is aimed to raise the public awareness of tapping and protecting natural resources and environment for sustainable development, the newspaper added.
