Vietnam Province OKs Plan to Build VND7B Medical Waste Treatment Systems

Vietnam’s southern province of Dong Thap authorities have approved a plan to build two medical solid waste and wastewater treatment systems valued at VND7 billion ($378,900) at hospitals. The systems will be built at Thap Muoi General Hospital and Dong Thap General Hospital, the Tien Phong newspaper reported Wednesday. The money for the project will be sourced from the state budget and other legal capital sources, the newspaper added. Vietnam needs to invest between $120 million and $150 million in medical waste treatment systems to reduce the environmental pollution, said the Ministry of Health.
