Vietnam Reports 80,000 Dengue Fever Cases So Far This Year

Vietnam has reported 80,000 dengue fever cases year-to-date, up 7.1% from a year earlier with 60 deaths, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said on its website Thursday. Of the disease-hit provinces and cities nationwide, Soc Trang province in the Mekong Delta region took the lead in terms of the number of dengue fever deaths, the MoH added. The disease has not yet been controlled and will peak this month, the ministry warned, urging locals to be cautious about the disease. This year, the government of Vietnam plans to spend VND70 billion ($4 million) for the national anti-dengue fever program.
