Vietnam Southern City Starts Building $36.82M River Dyke Project

Authorities of the Can Tho city in southern Vietnam started the construction of a dyke project along the Can Tho River, with total investment of VND700 billion ($36.82 million) from g-bond May 20, state media reported. Apart from the 10-kilometer embankment, which will spread through the districts of Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang, the project also includes a park, lighting and water drainage system, and stairs for tourists. The project, scheduled to be completed late 2011, is expected to prevent landslides and improve waterway traffic safety on the river.
