Vietnam to Spend $95.68M to Train Rural Workers This Year

Vietnam plans to spend VND1.768 trillion ($95.68 million) to provide vocational training for 430,000 rural workers this year, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) said. Of the total sum, VND506 billion will be used to build and upgrade vocational training schools nationwide, especially those in 62 poor districts and VND20 billion will be invested to improve curricula, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper reported Jan. 4. The prime minister has asked the MoLISA to cooperate with other relevant agencies to carry out the project.
Currently, only 18.7% of rural workers have attended a vocational training course compared with the average figure of 25% for the nation, according to statistics released by the General Department for Vocational Training under the MoLISA.
