Vietnam to Spend VND62T to Reduce Poverty in 2006-2010

Vietnam has spent a total of VND62 trillion on poverty reduction programs in the 2006-2010 period in order to axe poverty rates to 15% in accordance with its new poverty line, the Nhan Dan newspaper reported. The figures are much higher than VND40.95 trillion on the programs in the 2001-2005 period. Vietnam has been hailed widely by the international community for its vibrant achievements in poverty reduction over the past ten years.
