Vietnam Starts Auditing Universities

Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) began auditing universities on October 12 as part of its efforts to cope with wrongdoing in fee collection, expenditure and enrollment, state media reported Wednesday. The Tuoi Tre newspaper said four inspection teams will check 12 universities in Hanoi, Nghe An and Ho Chi Minh City and three other teams will audit departments of education and training in Hanoi, HCM City, Haiphong, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Hau Giang, Hoa Binh, Bac Giang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Nghe An and Ha Tinh.
The audit will end on October 20. By September 2009, Vietnam has 223 colleges and 146 universities.
