Vietnam Starts Health Project for Pregnant Mothers

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health held a conference in Hanoi April 19 to kick off a health project for pregnant mothers, state media reported. Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen said the project slated for implementation from 2009 to 2012, aims to improve regulations of reproductive healthcare management in China, India and Vietnam, which record the high mortality rates of mothers. Vietnam targets to reduce the mortality rate of mothers by three quarters by 2015 under its millennium goals, Xuyen noted.
