Vietnam to Tighten Hygiene, Safety of Tet Food Products

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has dispatched ten teams to inspect hygiene and safety of Tet food products in 30 cities and provinces nationwide from Jan. 1 to Feb. 14, state media reported. The teams will focus on inspection on wholesale markets, big supermarkets and food suppliers. Fines will be imposed if any violations will be found, the Cong An Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh online newspaper reported. Vietnam reportedly witnessed 147 food poisoning cases in 2009, affecting 5,026 people and killing 33 others, said the ministry.
