WB Finances Nearly $3M for 2 Power Grid Projects in Vietnam Southern Province

The World Bank has financed a combined VND57 billion (nearly $3 million) for two power grid projects in the southern province of Dong Thap, the Vietnam News Agency said. Of the total, VND38 billion is injected into a project to build a 110-kV transformer station in Tran Quoc Toan industrial park and the rest into a project to upgrade power grids in rural areas. Power Company No. 2, a unit of the state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN), is carrying out the projects. Vietnam National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT) is estimated to need VND90 trillion ($4.712 billion) to carry out nearly 500 power transmission projects from now to 2015.
