“GIS for Health and Social Protection” Training Program in July 2012

Spatial Decisions is pleased to announce, a short training program, “GIS for Health and Social Protection” here in Hanoi, for professionals working with non-profit organizations and institutions.

Health professionals are actively engaged in collecting data for various purposes including baseline documentation, epidemiology, program monitoring and evaluation, and resource allocation. Compared to traditional methods, GIS provides an efficient method for information assimilation, management, and analysis. It provides an easier visualization supporting decision making and information communication. On its own, and by complimenting existing ICT solutions, GIS will be able to help organizations in:

•    Linking health data with socio-demographic, environmental, administrative  and health infrastructure
•    Analyzing multiple datasets in a spatial and temporal context
•    Visualization of data over space and time
•    Better resource allocation for inter/ intra-agency programs
•    More holistic decision making
•    Improved monitoring and evaluation

The objective of this training program:  is to sensitize and introduce the basic concepts of GIS and how it will be useful for the respective organizations needs in the domain of human health services. Case studies with more real-life situations will be dealt with and participants will be encouraged to discuss their specific needs and solutions in the training.

Schedule: The training program will be of four days from 10th July to 13th July 2012.

Venue: Spatial Decisions, 68C Tran Quang Dieu, Dong Da District, Hanoi.
Course Fee:  The training is currently being offered at no cost for upto 8 participants in this instance, with a maximum of 2 persons from any organization.

Pre-Requisite:
o    Basic Computer Skills
o    Training program and material will be in English
o    Trainee should be working in the domain of human health services with non-profit organizations or institute.
