02 Consultants for Supply socio-economic assessment of selected natural ingredients

HELVETAS Vietnam is looking for 02 Consultants for Supply socio-economic assessment of selected natural ingredients under the Project “Development of BioTrade activities within the natural ingredient sectors” - funded by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The objective of the project is to support Vietnam to become an internationally recognized supplier of choice for biodiversity derived natural ingredient products-sourced, processed and traded in compliance with the Convention on Biological Diveristy objectives and BioTrade principles. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess the supply socio-economy of selected natural ingredients in Vietnam (Please refer to our website helvetas.org.vn for detailed TORs and annexes)

SPECIFIC TASKS

1. Review relevant documents to understand background and context of assignment.

2. Develop the study design outlining methods and timeline.

3. Share the draft design and methodology with the project team and get feedback.

4. Meet with the BioTrade Project team to discuss study objectives, agree on modalities of coordination, discuss structure of final report.

5. Conduct field work To investigate the questions listed in the file in the annex.

6. Analyze findings from the field

7. Draft report, submit to the BioTrade project team, get feedback and finalize the report

Two consultants will be selected: the first consultant will be in charge of implementing the Che Day (Ampelopsis cantoniensis), Star anise (Illicium verum) or Cassia (Cinnamomum cassia) assessment in the Northern part of the country and the second consultant for Ba benh (Eurycoma longifolia) and Garlic (Allium sativum) assessment in the Central and Southern part of Vietnam.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· A proven experience in value-chain analysis, notably for the supply social – economic analysis;

· Experience in capacity building and working with farmers, including ethnic minority groups;

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;

· Full computer literacy.
