03 Trainee Software Developer

Technical Assistance to Business Registration Reform in Vietnam" Project (BRR) is co-funded by the Swiss Government, the Norwegian Government and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The project aims to provide policy and technical advice towards the achievement of nationwide business registration reform. As a result, enterprises will be able to register for business, tax code, statistics and seals through a single-point, using a consolidated form and obtain a unique enterprise ID. National capacities, as well as capacities in 63 provinces, will be developed to simplify the legal framework, processes and procedures and to set up and operate the computerized National Business Registry System (NBRS). The project will contribute to achievement of Outcome 1 (Output 1.12, Expected Result 1.12.5) of One UN Plan 2006-2010".

They are currently looking for 03 qualified candidates to fill the position of Trainee Software Developer. Under the overall guidance and supervision of the UNIDO Headquarters Project Manager and the National Project Director (NPD), and under the direct supervision of the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA), the Trainee Software Developer will work in collaboration with the Software group of the Project and will carry out the following tasks:

1. Take part in on-the-job software development training on the National Business Registration System application including the integrated modules in the following areas: features development, design, and technical platform
2. Gain experience in development of add-on applications and services in the NBRS through observing and instructions of the senior team members
3. Take part in on-the-job training on modification of NBRS application including removal or development of functionalities through observing and instructions of the senior team members
4. Take part in training and carry out adjustment of appearance/layout/format of printouts/forms in the NBRS application under supervision of the Software Development Team Leader
5. Study and gain knowledge on the data exchange mechanism with the General Department of Taxation for tax code issuance
6. Participate and give comments/initiatives in all the meeting of the Software Development Group
7. Prepare a final report at the end of the assignment.

Location: Hanoi and/or other provinces
Duration: 3 months initially with possibility to extend

Qualifications:
- University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields.
- Good understanding of OO principles, strong coding skills in ASP.NET, C#, Java, PhP and hands-on experiences with .NET 3.0/3.5 web-based application development. Extensive experience with .NET is an advantage.
- Experience with unit testing, test-drive development.
- Strong skills in data modeling and relational database development with Oracle 10g, 11g, SQL Server technologies.
- Solid problem solving, design, troubleshooting, debugging skill.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that includes an aggressive release schedule.
- Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Good skills in graphical user interface design in CSS, Javascript.
- Ability to multi-task and put extra effort in to get the job done if needed.
- Fluency in verbal and written English required.
