Agricultural Economist
The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) works to reduce hunger and poverty, and improve human nutrition in the tropics through research aimed at increasing the eco-efficiency of agriculture. CIAT is a member of the CGIAR Consortium (www.cgiar.org), a global research partnership working many partners for a food secure future.
CIAT is looking for an Agricultural Economist to support the development of a cost-benefit analysis tool for Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices. He/she will work under the IFAD-CCAFS funded project “Pragmatic economic valuation of adaptation risk and responses across scales”.
The initial contract will be for 1 year with possible renewal. This is a nationally recruited position in Vietnam, and will be based at CIAT's Asia Regional Office in Hanoi with frequent travel to Tra Vinh Province.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and field testing of a cost-benefit analysis tool for CSA practices
- Conduct field work, data collection and data analysis together with project partners
- Support the planning and conduct of workshops/events to share research findings with relevant stakeholders
- Disseminate research findings to diverse users and stakeholders through scientific publications, policy briefs and public awareness materials
Requirements
- Bachelors’ degree, postgraduate degree preferred, in Economics or related fields
- Research work experience in agriculture and/or natural resource management, with relevant knowledge on climate-smart agriculture
- Proven skills in surveys and other field research methods, including data management and analysis
- Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g. public sector, farmer, NGOs, research organizations)
- Excellent Vietnamese and English skills
