Agriculture-Tourism Officer

Lux-Development, the Executing Agency for Bilateral Co-operation financed by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is assisting the Cao Bang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement the project VIE036  “Wise Use of Water and Agriculture” (WUWA).

VIE/036 WUWA started in 2015 and has a planned duration of five years. WUWA supports counterparts in Cao Bang province with innovative approaches as to improve service delivery by government and private actors for agricultural development, irrigation investments and small-scale investments.

The project VIE/036 WUWA has three result areas:

1. Agricultural Productivity – Optimized, diversified and more resilient agricultural production systems;

2. Access to Water – Increased water availability for agricultural production systems;

3. Improved Process – Producers and service providers are actively invested in the planning and management of agricultural production systems

Lux-Development is looking for a candidate to fill the new position of Agriculture-Tourism officer (ATO) position, (one year assignment, renewable):

Main task and activities:

• Facilitate the development and improvement of tourism activities in the province toward responsible and sustainable agri-tourism through:

• Promoting the value of local features namely: culture, landscape and people via implementing existing tourism models in a sustainable manner;

• Seeking expertise to support the formation of institutional practices on tourism activities in the province that specifically link with agricultural development activities at grass-root level;

• Be a focal point in advocating agri-tourism activities/ practices/ ideas that link with and contributes to livelihood of local communities;

• Support the province & enterprises and communities in forming up touring programs using varying resources including Innovative grant and via Community Development fund those are currently being initialized by the project.

Deliverables:

• Overall strategy on developing responsible tourism in the province;

• Concept notes, Term of Reference for varying tourism development tasks initialized by provincial entities

• Field notes, reports on implemented activities.

Minimum Requirements:

• A bachelors degree preferably in agricultural economics, rural development, or tourism;

• Good analytical, report writing and communication skills.

• Good health condition that needed for difficult field travels in remote areas;

• Have strong self-presentation skills to varying audience of different backgrounds;

• High motivation to work in and support poor and mountainous areas;

• Good command of English is an advantage;

• Good skills in MS applications, especially in designing software such as Adobe Photoshop, PowerPoint. Have experience in photography;

• Ability to be innovative and creative.
