Biostatistician II

FHI 360 is an international non-governmental organization that works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, other ministries, provincial health services, and local non-government organizations to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese population, particularly vulnerable and disenfranchised groups. FHI is currently building the capacity of local organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment; clinical research for the development of vaccines and drugs for infectious diseases; tobacco control; and laboratory strengthening.

We are currently seeking qualified, experienced and highly motivated candidate for the position of Biostatistician II, based in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

Position Summary:

Serve as statistical project manager, statistical consultant, and lead statistical analyst for multiple projects requiring standard statistical methods.

Main duties and responsibilities:

- Coordinate the provision of full biostatistics support for multiple research projects. Determine statistical support requirements, negotiates timetables and coordinates work of statistical team supporting research projects.
- Promote good statistical practice for the support of scientific judgments and product claims.
- Play a lead role in the development and maintenance of systems assuring the timely provision for high quality statistical services.
- Assist Senior Biostatistician for research studies with a variety of research design.
- Train FHI 360 staff and collaborators on basic statistical methodology and computing
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and abilities:

- BS/BA in in biostatistics or statistics and 8-10 years relevant experience, or MS/MA/MPH in biostatistics or statistics and 5-7 years relevant work experience or PhD/DrPH in biostatistics or statistics
- Experience in designing, planning and performing analyses for clnical trials or other health research studies.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, SUDAAN, SPSS). Knowledge of intermediate biostatistical methods (for observational and randomized studies).
- Strong quantitative, verbal, writing and organizational skills.
- Excellent relevant English language skills and ability to manage fast-paced work flow with minimal supervision.
- Computer literate with strong skills in use of MS office package (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint...)
- Willing and able to work under pressure and travel as required.
- Work experience with NGOs/INGOs is preferred but not mandatory.
