Business Development Unit/ Communication Assistant

SNV Vietnam is looking for a Business Development Unit/ Communication Assistant, based in Hanoi with travel to other provinces (full time employment contract)

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+(Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).

SNV is engaged in the agriculture sector implementing Sustainable Market, Inclusive Business and Climate Smart Agriculture projects and activities.  Within this sector SNV is looking for a Business Development Unit (“BDU”)/ Communication Assistant to support BDU and BD activities including provide support to BD Coordinator.

Responsibilities

The Assistant will lead on the following tasks, to support the BD Unit:

  • Database management. Ensuring all information in Salesforce (SNV’ donor database) is present and up to date for all new and existing opportunities; Responsible for requesting inputs from the sector leaders, programme managers and finance team to ensure completeness; providing ad hoc training to new staff that need to use Salesforce; Producing Reports based on the database.
  • Researching opportunities – in Vietnamese print, scanning opportunities online and reviewing (and circulating to others internally) Donor Country Plans.
  • Auditing organizational filing: ensuring the organisations shared drive is complete and easily navigable to any new staff or external auditors.
  • Preparing project references: using information from the database to produce a range of project references according to donor specifications.
  • Preparing CVs: using information from SNVs online CV database to produce CVs according to donor specifications – format request and TOR content.
  • Develop standard formats and guidelines for narrative and financial applications, in line with corporate standards
  • Photo library management
  • Vietnam webpages: uploading news, publications
  • PR materials preparation (basic design), distribution and inventories
  • Event organization support

The Assistant will support the BD unit on the following tasks:

  • Be the point of contact for the BDC in her absence – hosting internal Kick Off meetings, Inductions and others as required
  • Submission of proposals and contracts – ensuring hard/ soft copies in the correct format are submitted on time and copies kept at SNV for our records
  • Support developing budgets and ensuring donor compliance for proposals – working with Sector Leaders, Finance Officers, BDC and Head Office.
  • Editing and translating between Vietnamese and English as required for documents or in meetings
  • Acting as additional support staff for Sector Leaders on an ad hoc basis when required by a donor (e.g. logistics support)
  • Provide additional support to maintenance of SNV’s online PME (Monitoring and Evaluation) systems – as required by the BD Coordinator and M&E Officers.

Candidate profile

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject (International Development, Business, Management, Economics, or related field)
  • Minimum two years professional experience
  • Excellent English language comprehension and communications skills
  • Good MS Office skills
  • Confident in using databases 
  • Basic graphic design skills preferred
  • Eager to learn and share knowledge
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Pro-active and confident to ask questions, for advice and clarifications

Contract Duration: SNV Vietnam offers one year employment contract
