1. Background

Healthy Markets (HM) aims to grow a viable commercial market for HIV-related goods and services capable of meeting the needs of populations facing the greatest risks. The project is expected to leverage private-sector solutions, expertise, interests, and assets to identify market opportunities and catalyze market responses to the HIV epidemic. The project also supports a phased transition from an environment where condoms and other related HIV prevention goods and services are predominantly subsidized, to one where non-subsidized commodities, services and distribution channels are the norm.

Specific objectives of the project include:

• Objective 1: to increase private sector and local investment in the market for condoms and other HIV-related goods and services;
• Objective 2: to increase demand for condoms and other HIV-related goods and services among key populations facing the greatest HIV risks; and,
• Objective 3: to increase private sector supply of condoms and other HIV-related goods and services among key populations facing the greatest HIV risks.

2. Purpose of the consultancy

Under HM, PATH is working with partners on the marketing mix of condoms, lubricants and low dead space syringe (LDSS). Main areas to focus on is to assist with the set up and progress of the distribution systems as well as the product marketing including design and launch management. 

3. Business fellow/ Junior consultant activities

The preferred candidate has studied/ studies with majors in Marketing/ Business Administration or has significant experience in marketing and/ or sales. We are looking for a candidate who is keen on working for innovative marketing approaches, is very hands-on and eager to learn. As the daily work will be in English and Vietnamese the candidate needs to have a profound level of both languages.

• To provide support with the marketing mix and distribution systems:
• Assist to implement marketing activities and support the launch of local produced condom brands and LDSS
• Support with creative briefings and help to prepare power point presentations for manufacturers
• Translation of English/ Vietnamese sales and marketing material
• Provide general support in distribution and marketing communication as required

4. Timeline

The HM team needs support from 1st November 2015 until 30th January 2016 (extension might be an option).

5. Travel

Travel may be required.

6. Reporting and supervisor

The consultant will work directly with the Marketing Specialist and the Sales and Distribution Specialist in Hanoi.
